About El Poste Farm
Located in Dipilto, Nueva Segovia, El Poste Farm has been owned by the Montenegro family for over 36 years. The farm has adapted to major changes in Nicaraguan agriculture, including a shift toward more diverse crops and the implementation of sustainable farming practices. El Poste is deeply committed to producing exceptionally high-quality coffee, making the most of the region’s unique soil and microclimate. Since the launch of the Cup of Excellence competition, the farm has continuously received professional training aimed at quality improvement. During harvest, workers are trained to pick only fully ripe cherries, and careful processing—pulping, fermentation, and washing—is carried out to maintain quality. Through these efforts, El Poste consistently delivers outstanding coffees both domestically and internationally.

What is the Cup of Excellence?
The
Cup of Excellence is an award given to the highest-quality coffees harvested in a given year. Competitions are held in producing countries around the world, primarily in Central and South America. Only coffees that pass rigorous national competitions and are judged by an international jury—focusing on flavor, quality, and uniqueness—are granted this prestigious title. Cup of Excellence coffees are known for their clean cups, exceptional clarity, and the distinctive qualities found only in top-tier specialty coffee: a refined mouthfeel, pleasant aromatics, lively acidity, and sweet fruit–like flavors that create an outstanding tasting experience.
